Nearly 50 Years at the State Fair

Every year we open a booth at the North Carolina State Fair in the Jim Graham Building. You can sample Neese's liver pudding, souse or c-loaf - all North Carolina favorites. It's become a family tradition.

Tom Neese III remembers as a very small child, arguing that the way he cut the samples was right and the way the adults did it was wrong. He cut the liver pudding into eight pieces and everyone else cut it into six pieces. But if you were turning the samples pieces into a "sample lunch" then you'd want the larger six-cut size.

That would make Tom III wrong except for one thing: his name is Neese.

Neese Sausage Restores Historic Delivery Trucks

The Neese's have always known that keeping the family history preserves their tradition of quality and service. In addition to 1/2 dozen gigantic scrapbooks locked away in the offices, there are several historic vehicles that the family has restored.

The most noteworthy is the covered Conestoga wagon Mr. Thede used to deliver sausage around 1905. The family believes that the wagon was in use before then and probably dates to the 1800s.

The completely restored 1927 Dodge found its way to Neese from its original owner in Plattosburg, NY, and then on to another owner in Flemington, NJ. It was finally purchased from a Mr. Buckley in Rural Retreat, VA.

Neese's 1929 Ford Sedan Delivery was found in a lean-to tobacco barn in Asheboro, NC and bought by a Greensboro, NC family. Later it was traded for a Deluxe Delivery van and then sold to a Hillsboro, NC man who sold it to a meat market manager who then sold it to Neese. In its history it was used by American Bakeries for deliveries and later by a plumbing company.

Additionally, the family has restored 1966 and 1972 Chevrolet trucks. Both were originally purchased and put into service by Neese.

The company is still seeking related vehicles to restore, and in particular, 1930s and 40s panel trucks. So if you know of any, give us a call or send an email. We'd be glad to hear from you.
